T
he Sister Islands, Cayman Brac and Little
Cayman, are separated from Grand Cayman by
75 miles and 30 years. While Grand Cayman is
home to 95 percent of the country’s population
and has evolved to embrace banking, commerce
and cruise ships (as well as great diving), the Sister Islands remain
on a refreshingly relaxed course. The phrase “islands time forgot”
isn’t quite right, though, as the dive infrastructure is excellent.
There are dedicated dive resorts and spacious, multipassenger
boats offering nitrox, advanced scuba instruction, sophisticated
underwater photo services and more. Things run safely,
professionally and on time. But there is a more laid-back feel to
these islands, and when the day’s diving is done, the Sister Islands
bear little resemblance to their more cosmopolitan sibling.
