DAN’s response:

It’s always great to hear about individuals’ successes with various remedies for motion sickness. Remember always to seek a physician’s advice about diving with any new medication. Encourage the doctor to call the DAN Medical Information Line (+1-919-684-2948) if he or she has any questions, and always try a new drug on land many times before diving with it.

DAN Was (and Is) There for Me

I really enjoyed David Ulloa’s article, “Third Time’s a Charm” (DAN Was There for Me, Spring 2011) — well written and very informative!

— Michael Krivor, via email

In the last three years DAN has played a vital role in diving operations on the wreck of the A.J. Goddard, a Klondike Gold Rush-era sternwheeler in the Yukon. It was essential that all volunteer diver participants be covered by DAN insurance in 2009 and 2010 at the Goddard wreck site and again this year on other wreck investigations in the Yukon. All the dives took place in remote locations, so it was important that DAN was a

part of our safe diving operations while we explored and documented this new wreck discovery.

— Doug Davidge, via email

I am leaving in a few weeks to trek to Base Camp of Mt. Everest. I have my travel insurance and DAN tags for my luggage, which I cannot do without, and I’m renewing my DAN insurance this afternoon. I am 70 years old, cancer-free for 8.5 years, and I exercise every day. This is my third time trekking to Base Camp, and I feel safe having this insurance and happy I have never had to use it.

Spotted Dolphin Dance

Great cover photo (Alert Diver, Spring 2011)! This is so very telling of the amazing encounters of the White Sand Ridge (Bahamas). Kudos to John [Johnson] — amazing shot! Well, as they say, it ain’t about the tool, it’s about how well you use it.

— Lawrence Curtis, via Facebook

Can we train the dolphins to stay off the sand and not ruin the viz?
