AD:
Your diving career was launched,
in a sense, because of a cancelled trip.
Evan:
Because of my dad’s involvement
with diving, I’ve always been interested
and wanted to go with him. In 2008 he
took me on the first ecotourism trip
he led to Antarctica. But because of
the weather, we couldn’t continue past
South America. The group decided to
cruise the Beagle Channel, and all the
divers saw so many cool things, like
dolphins and penguins. I was jealous
and started dive training when we got
back home to California. I wanted to
dive in Antarctica when we went back
in 2009.

n June 3, 2012, a few weeks before his 15
th
birthday, Evan
Bozanic surfaced in Bushman’s Cave (Boesmansgat), South
Africa, having just become the youngest person to dive all
seven continents. In less than four years Evan progressed
from a Junior Open Water Diver to an experienced under-
water explorer, using drysuits, full-face masks and rebreathers
with well-trained ease. Evan’s success can be attributed in part to his father’s
influence. A technical diving instructor, author and dive educator, Jeff Bozanic has
provided opportunity and support for Evan’s quest while encouraging his son to
navigate a moderate path through some of diving’s most extreme environments.
At the age of 14, Evan Bozanic became the youngest person in the world
to dive on all seven continents. His experiences included remote
locations, high-tech equipment and environmental extremes.
