DAN TravelAssist
No matter whether you are diving or not, when you are 50
miles or more from home you have the advantages of DAN
TravelAssist
®
to help you manage the mishaps of travel. DAN
TravelAssist is one of the core benefits of DAN membership, yet
it is perhaps the least understood. It has four components:
Medical Evacuation:
This is the part of DAN membership that
provides up to $100,000 of emergency medical evacuation
assistance coverage when you are 50 miles or more from
home, and it can be activated for both diving and nondiving
emergencies (benefit based on residency). TravelAssist
coordinates with the attending physician and, if necessary,
makes the arrangements for transportation by land, water
or air to evacuate or repatriate you and transfer you to
an appropriate medical facility. TravelAssist is not an
insurance policy, it is a DAN membership benefit and is
therefore not exclusive to diving situations. DAN must make
all arrangements; arrangements made otherwise may not
qualify for reimbursement.
The medical-assistance component of TravelAssist
also provides prescription assistance, medical-expense
advances, medical monitoring and 24-hour medical
information and assistance.
Travel:
If you are traveling alone and are hospitalized for more
than seven consecutive days, TravelAssist allows for a friend
or family member to visit you. Additional benefits include
pretrip information, the return of your dependent children in
the event of illness or injury during travel and more.
Personal:
The personal assistance component of TravelAssist
includes emergency message transmission assistance,
emergency cash advances, help with recovering lost or
stolen items, insurance claim assistance, emergency
travel assistance and general support, such as guidance
with the use of the services available through consulates,
government agencies and translators.
Legal:
The fourth resource is legal assistance, which provides
legal referrals, assistance and bail advances of up to $5,000
where permitted by law.
