Education
DAN education materials have undergone a redesign and include the latest scientific information and the 2010 Guidelines for
Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiac Care and CPR administration. The new materials feature full-color graphics as well as
high-definition photography and instructional videos.
Diving Emergency Management Program
DAN’s comprehensive first aid management program teaches individuals how to provide first aid care for a variety of scenarios,
diving and nondiving. This course integrates the knowledge and skills from DAN’s four essential first aid programs – Basic Life
Support: CPR and First Aid, Neurological Assessment, First Aid for Hazardous Marine Life Injuries and Emergency Oxygen
for Scuba Diving Injuries – into a single course. These four essential first aid courses and the all-inclusive Dive Emergency
Management Provider program are available in English and Spanish (Instructor version only/Not available for students).
Diving First Aid for Professional Divers
The DAN Diving First Aid for Professional Divers course is designed with aquariums, commercial diving companies and
scientific diving operations in mind featuring comprehensive first aid coverage. This course is designed to comply with
Occupational Health and Safety Administration rules and guidelines. It is also an excellent risk management course for dive
instructors and divemasters as it provides a framework for comprehensive planning and accident management.
CPR Health-Care Provider with First Aid
Whether you are diving a few hours from shore or days from civilization, dive accidents may require more advanced levels of
care than are offered by entry-level CPR programs. CPR Health-Care Provider with First Aid teaches techniques of basic life
support required for effective prolonged care.
If you have any questions about DAN education programs, or for information on how to become a DAN Instructor or Instructor
Trainer, contact DAN Education at (919) 684-2948 or via email at
.
Online Incident Reporting System
DAN has established the DAN Online Incident Reporting System, which enables divers to anonymously report incidents and
help others avoid accidents in the future. By providing a detailed report of the dive accident to our medical research team, this
information helps DAN accumulate valuable data on dive accidents and identify important trends. Each report helps DAN experts
determine important avenues of research and develop safety guidelines for the benefit of every diver and the dive community.
