South Africa is well known for its
terrestrial big five, the iconic game
found in the country’s savannah that
include the lion, leopard, elephant, Cape
buffalo and rhino. Yet just offshore swim
equally compelling marine predators,
most notably, of course, the great white
shark. In addition there are many other
shark species, megapods of dolphin,
various species of whales, flocks of
penguins and a huge diversity of
other marine life — all within a
few hours’ drive of each other.
