Medical Coverage Abroad
Before you set out on your next adventure, make sure you know
what your health insurance covers. Not all medical insurance
policies are valid or accepted abroad. Travel with confidence
when you have overseas medical coverage — part of every
DAN Travel Insurance policy (coverage varies by plan) and a
component of DAN’s Preferred Plan (provides up to $10,000
lifetime coverage for nondive-accident medical coverage when
abroad). Although emergencies are rare, it’s always best to travel
with a contingency plan.
If you aren’t sure about your coverage abroad, contact your
insurance company directly before your next trip to get detailed
information about covered medical expenses, and find out where
your policy is valid.
• Ask questions about both illnesses and accidents.
• Ensure your policy covers the activities you plan to do.
• Find out if you will need to pay expenses out of pocket and
be reimbursed or if your provider will cover the expenses up
front.
• If you opt to cover your trip with travel insurance, make sure
you keep a copy of the plan’s emergency phone number with
you throughout your travels.
• When choosing a travel insurance plan, ask about medical
evacuation coverage. (All DAN Travel Insurance plans come
with DAN TravelAssist
®
, which offers up to $100,000 in
medical evacuation coverage.)
Travel insurance is a great way to ensure you have the medical
coverage you need. To learn more about DAN’s travel insurance

Suddenly,
you’re in a whole different state of
“Pool’s open!”
“Talk about decompressing!”
“Looks like Happy Hour!”
You don’t have to travel to an exotic locale to experience unique
diving. Just venture out about 17 nautical miles off Orange
Beach into the Gulf to the 271-foot freighter, LuLu, resting at
depths accessible enough for beginners, yet challenging enough
for advanced divers. It’s a whole different state of adventure.
